A CIOs Role in Delivering the Right Workloads - Anywhere
Hosted by Factor
- 200 attendees
- 37200 hours
Overview
The CIO can be seen as the ultimate cheerleader for all in-house technology and digital processes. IT traditionally has a nebulous reputation with other business units – so it is the role of the CIO to improve the image and reputation of IT services within the company. The CIO isn’t only tech-focused: a good CIO integrates the entire IT department with other business units, so knowledge of the common as a whole is imperative. For example, if a business unit seeks technology to digitise, improve, or even automate processes, the CIO is responsible for managing these processes, even if a specific IT team performs the actual implementation. Join this months edition to explore:

- Evolve Spotlight Speaker- Sam Bloom(Plenary) In 2013, Sam’s dream life turned into a nightmare when she unknowingly leant against a rotten balcony railing, falling through it and crashing six metres onto the concrete below. She was lucky to be alive and had suffered immense trauma including damage to her spinal cord that left her paralysed. After a gruelling rehabilitation process, Sam was left bereft as she faced a new and foreign life in a wheelchair. All seemed lost until the day her son found an injured baby magpie that the family took in and named ‘Penguin’. Sam and Penguin’s remarkable bond and extraordinary story of parallel recovery was captured through the lens by Sam’s husband, acclaimed photographer Cameron Bloom. Cameron’s images formed the basis for the international bestselling book Penguin Bloom, a collaboration with New York Times bestselling author Bradley Trevor Greive. Their powerful story inspired the Hollywood movie of the same name, starring Naomi Watts and Andrew Lincoln. Released in January 2021, Penguin Bloom became an immediate hit, taking #1 at the Australian box office and trending on Netflix in North America and across Europe
- A Business-First Approach to Building Data Governance Programs(Plenary) Traditional data governance initiatives fail by focusing too heavily on policies, compliance, and enforcement, which quickly lose business interest and support. In this presentation, we will share a lean, business-first data governance approach that connects key initiatives to governance capabilities and quickly delivers business value for the long-term. He will give examples of organisations worldwide who have successfully implemented a data governance program by engaging with key stakeholders using innovative techniques such as gamification and data catalogue scavenger hunts.

Right now, businesses are having to deal with a modern, frictionless experience across all channels and the right level of security for their customers and themselves. Okta is identified as a leader in access management by analysts such as Gartner, Forrester, and others. Their success is due to a unique methodology developed over time that can deliver this frictionless experience while still achieving security at scale. You can stop identity-driven attacks and engage with users across all channels. - How organisations like JetBlue & Australian Red Cross use identity to create secure, seamless, digital experiences.

Engaging employees and providing career pathways is key to retention. Meanwhile CIOs must continue to manage the complex migration of IT estates to the cloud, requiring a deep understanding of the network dependencies to prevent outages. Knowledge Graphs built on Neo4j offer a complete view of their business in near real-time, making sense of vast amounts of data - from IT network performance to employee skills catalogues.
