Agenda
- A Business-First Approach to Building Data Governance Programs(Plenary) Traditional data governance initiatives fail by focusing too heavily on policies, compliance, and enforcement, which quickly lose business interest and support. This leaves data management and governance leaders having to continually make the case for data governance to secure business adoption. In this presentation, we will share a lean, business-first data governance approach that connects key initiatives to governance capabilities and quickly delivers business value for the long-term. He will give examples of organisations worldwide who have successfully implemented a data governance program by engaging with key stakeholders using innovative techniques such as gamification and data catalogue scavenger hunts.
- Evolve: Global Context of Data - Australia vs the World(Plenary) During this session we focus on bench marking cities against the world. We take a closer look at what making data lead decisions and interpreting the data could look like without making mistakes. Furthermore, we uncover how this leads to protecting your career – making good data decisions for your future. Join us as we get together with Christopher Hire, as he takes us through a journey where we dive deep into how we can use data to our advantage.
- Thought Leadership: Making Real-Time, Granular Data and Analytics available Across Your Organisation, your Business Ecosystem and Beyond(Plenary) Data is now rightly perceived as a business asset. The use case for sharing data within an organisation has always been clear, but the next phase is really revolutionising how we share data with those on the outside. The timeliness and quality of that data is critical. Not only do we need streamlined, secure real-time data pipelines, both internal and external to your organisation, but also, the ability to provide real-time embedded analytics into operational applications and business portals. Join this session to hear: That real-time data pipelines are the foundation building block for businesses today How using RPA, ML & AI can improve data quality, contain costs, and maintain the timeliness of data delivery Why Embedded Analytics is becoming more pervasive and necessary in creating certainty in an uncertain business eco system both now and into the future The argument for a flexible open end-to-end data integration and analytics platform
- Using the STAY Conversations to Craft a Leadership Experience(Plenary) What career experiences do senior leaders want? What could their career pathway look like as a leader of leaders in the business? The answer is... by using data to pull together themes, and craft a career pathway with experiences the enables leaders' growth and development. After all, how do we expect them to be good leaders if they do not get the opportunities to develop themselves. During this session we cover a journey that has grown significant interest from leaders at EY and we talk about how it can be replicated in organisations. Join us as we get together with Liz Heathwood to dive into: How we are thinking about their career experiences and pathways. How to have a good leadership / career conversation. What does it look like and how do you break down the walls so people get vulnerable and tell you what they really think rather than lip service. A new way of thinking for an innovative and practical practice to take back to your organisations.
- Morning Tea & Networking Break(Plenary)
- How to Accelerate your Automation Journey using AI-driven Integration(Plenary) Let’s take a mental trip and place ourselves 50 years into the future. The personal computers used every day at your job in 2070 will be tens of millions of times more powerful than what you are using today. To command your computer, you will talk, point, and swipe more and type less. Again just like in Star Trek movies, the enterprise IT systems of 2070 will discover and connect themselves, automatically shuttling data around to execute tasks. You will talk to these systems or interface with a digital human with the horsepower to employ techniques and neural networks that ultimately imitate the human brain. Let’s rewind to today. Are you challenged with getting data in real time? Do you have to go hunting for data? Are you faced with data silos and disconnected data?Today, we’ll unpack how artificial intelligence enhances enterprise automation to replace manual efforts, automate complex and manual processes making business-process flows with applications and data fast and easy. You’ll discover how Artificial Intelligence quickly connects data, applications and processes: dramatically reducing time and cost of cloud, analytics, and digital initiatives.
- Digitalising Business Processes and Facilitating Operations through Technology(Plenary) During this session we will discuss the general steps required to digitally transform business processes and also to streamline operations through the use of various technologies. We will also discuss how to continuously improve these solutions and processes and how to incorporate iterative improvement into organisational periodic reviews. To help visualise these principles, we will go through two case studies which depict these processes and the value they brought as a result.
- Rethinking Data Security in the era of Digitalisation(Plenary) From the increasing severity of cyberattacks, to keeping pace with rapidly shifting consumer needs, to the need to support remote workers, today's realities are increasing pressure on CDOs (whether Chief Data Officers or Chief Digital Officers). As digital and analytics capabilities become more critical to competitiveness, organisations need to rethink their data management strategies to gain the most value out of their data, while ensuring it remains secure against cyberattacks. Data resilience is a key enabler for CDOs looking to drive a data-driven culture – if data is secure, has integrity, and can be trusted, then the possibilities for innovation are endless. Achieving this requires thinking beyond infrastructure security and ensuring security at the point of data. In this session, we will unpack the cyber security risks that are influencing data management strategies. We will explore how data resiliency, data observability, and data recovery enables organisations to be compliant with data regulations, reduce cyber exposure, and strengthen their competitive edge.
- The Soft side of Data (…is the hardest one)(Plenary) Organisations around the world have worked on a commonly professed objective for many years: “Become (more) data-driven”. For some, this goal has transitioned into an aspirational statement, and the biggest challenge for organizations working on their data strategy might not have anything to do with technology at all. Becoming data-driven requires a change in organisational culture and accepting that “data” deserves its own leadership function. This is a people issue and can only be solved if technical experts adopt a completely different approach to data, including a set of skills that don’t always come naturally to data experts. In this session, Aldo will share: The misalignment of expectations from decision makers and data professionals is still preventing data to reach its real potential Data professionals: it is time to develop a new set of skills!
- Lunch & Networking Break(Plenary)
- Co-created Analytics Platform Designed to Reduce Risk of Domestic and Family Violence(Plenary) In 2020 DFV related sexual assault rose 13 precent and 145 victims of DFV related homicide were regretfully reported in Australia. Griffith University, Microsoft and Queensland police are using confidential computing techniques in Azure to securely exchange information and inform multiple agencies and organisations to reduce risk. Initially designed to inform front line workers decision making can also build broad insights to inform policy and ongoing decision making. Join the session as we understand: co-creation is key to unlock data to create insights that inform decision making. Focusing on the goal: 'reduction of harm' is the mantra. The information actually required to inform operational decision making is very concise and limited. Allowing audits is required to maintain the trust between agencies and organisations.
- Uncovering the Business Value of Data Intelligence(Plenary) Data intelligence is the foundation of modern self-service analytics, growing a data culture, and driving data literacy. But how do you measure success? Is there a data culture ROI? And how do you communicate that value to business stakeholders? Alation has developed a metric framework and value measurement process to answer these questions. It combines catalog usage statistics with an organisation's supplied assumptions to quantify value along several dimensions. During this session we will introduce this approach and review a series of real examples. Attendees can expect to learn: How to define a value metric framework The dependency between key use cases & their value How to extend the measurement to specific business outcomes (and convey their value to c-suite!)
- Harnessing Data with Machine Learning for Automation and Decision Making(Plenary) During session we get together with professor Richi Nayak of Queensland University of Technology to discuss what we need to know about the power of data science beyond the common predictive approach. There is a world of insights that enable us to take the next step in delivering value as organisations and make more informed decisions but we first need to be clear on what is important and what to potentials are to begin with. Join us as we get together to discuss: Personalisation, automation and what data science can really help you to achieve How to use machine learning to understand the market we play in and fuel our strategy reports How to extract data from all the sources available and organise an understandable actionable playbook True power of data science vs the typical use of it being predictive
- Rock, Paper...Digital? Assignar’s mission to digitise the construction industry(Plenary) Fivetran’s mission is to “make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity” through automated data pipelines as a service. We welcome Marko Tomic, the Co-Founder and CTO of Assignar, an end-to-end operations platform for the construction industry, to talk about how he is utilising data to digitilise the industry.
- Afternoon Tea & Networking Break(Plenary)
- Prioritizing Data as a Strategic Asset(Plenary) Data is a critical business asset, whether that's realized to its full potential is up to the business. How an enterprise prioritizes data as a strategic asset will determine its survival, growth potential, and competitive advantage. Having a true data management strategy to ensure quality, trustworthy data at scale will be key for businesses to drive increased revenue and outperform competitors. Join Rex Ahlstrom; CTO, EVP Innovation & Growth at Syniti, as he discussed on what are the cost and implication of bad data and how with improved data management, business executives can then make more informed decisions. Attendees will walk away with: Understanding data’s significance & value - why is it so important for businesses today? How data quality and company success are inextricably linked Combining quality data with the right choice of emerging tech to improve competitive advantage
- Data Clean Rooms for Business Growth(Plenary) Sharing data while adhering to privacy regulations has always been challenging. But by using distributed data clean rooms, it’s now possible to collaborate with data in a secure manner that aligns with privacy rules. The capabilities of distributed data clean rooms are especially beneficial to advertisers and the media industry as we continue moving to a cookieless future. Data clean rooms allow organizations to manage data effectively, deidentify it, and share it. Let’s explore what a data clean room is and how it works, the benefits you can experience with a data clean room, and how today’s companies use data clean rooms for business growth.
- Building High Performance Team Cultures(Plenary) During this edition we talk about what it takes to build a culture of high performance in your teams and achieving best results. Join us as we get together with Toby Jenkins to discuss the culture of high performing teams and how to go about building one.
