Agenda
- You’ve got this: Using tech to tackle the CFOs toughest tasks in 2023(Plenary) The battle for talent, accurate forecasting and cutting the rights costs – according to Gartner, these are the top challenges CFOs will face in 2023. As business systems experts, we will share first-hand insights on how technology - specifically Cloud ERP - can equip organisations with the capabilities needed to overcome these latest hurdles. We’ll also discuss areas of innovation for your own financial processes, and showcase market-leading ANZ businesses who have overcome similar challenges.
- Policy Advice - Talking to CFO's and What 2023 holds for us?(Plenary) Since productivity growth has contributed almost all of Australia’s improvement in material living standards since federation, it is essential that the productivity slowdown is arrested and turned around if Australians are to enjoy continued increases in living standards, social disadvantage is to be reduced and the Australian and global environments are to be preserved and repaired. Join this session as we cover: What are the things key issues that CFO's want to watch out for Early warning signs What 2023 has in store for us and the difficulties we will be faced with Government budget, and the impact that will have on all organisations
- A CFO’s Perspective: Managing Operations Through Turbulent Times(Plenary) Operations teams within financial services organisations are constantly under pressure to drive out costs and become more efficient. It's like white noise with annual budget cycles always pushing for further reductions. The next 12 months will be different. With tough economic times ahead, the challenge for operations teams will be even more acute as we CFOs will be looking for savings from our biggest cost centres – and operations is one of the largest. In this session, we’ll explore the questions CFOs can ask their operations leaders as we look to partner with operations to drive savings.
- Morning Tea & Networking Break(Plenary)
- Driving Digital Transformation: How Financial Software Optimises Your Close - Trintech(Plenary) The heightened need for software solutions to connect employees and departments over the last year has resulted in a new level of acceptance and expectation for digitization across every aspect of an organization. For finance teams specifically, digital transformation is no longer an aspirational goal but instead is a requirement to building resilience and effectively supporting the wider business. What is needed is financial software that is flexible enough to accommodate ever changing requirements— a solution that allows CFOs and Controllers to track what their team is working on, what the status of those tasks are, and enables real-time visibility and access to documentation and commentary during the entire close cycle.
- Cultivating Your Executive Presence(Plenary) The CFO role is constantly evolving, with an important element now being as a change agent within the organisation, and to lead successfully in this space it is essential that you cultivate your executive presence. The term executive presence can feel very nebulous and intangible so in this session we will explore what it is and strategies for how you can cultivate it so that you can be more influential and inspiring in your role as a leader, which will enable you to make the contribution that is important to you.
- Enterprise Planning for a Changing World(Plenary) It’s no secret that in times of uncertainty, organisations need to be agile, adaptable, and strategic. However, many operate with data silos, disconnected plans, and manual processes that leave little time for the detailed analysis finance and business decision makers need to seize opportunities and mitigate risk. Join workday for this session as we explore the steps CFO’s and their FP&A teams can take to enable more cohesive and agile planning environments that equip them to not only react, but to thrive in times of turbulence and unpredictable change.
- 3 Challenges CPOs Must Overcome In 2022 And Beyond(Plenary) During this edition we get together with Andres Naranjo of Coates Hire to discuss the 3 challenges CPOs must overcome in the year ahead and what the general landscape looks like 2023. However, in an age of rapid digital transformation, cybercrime is now one of the biggest threats facing CFOs with the potential to cripple, not only financially, but also reputationally. What was once considered an “IT issue” now falls firmly under the remit of the Finance Chief and CFOs need to be very aware of the risks and prepared for these attacks. This eye-opening session will explore the Australian Cybercrime landscape – What are the latest threats, why are CFOs and finance teams being targeted and what should CFOs be doing now to protect themselves and their organisations.
- Working with small businesses as your competitive advantage(Plenary) During this edition we get together with Brett Nolan of Tourism Australia to unwrap the importance of working with small businesses as your competitive advantage. When it comes to the preferred supplier, procurement in enterprise and government more often that tend to lean towards the multinationals and enterprise providers because of the security and certainty they come with. The benefits that working with small businesses, especially within the public sector, are often forgotten. Join us during this session as we dive deep and explore case studies that have benefited organisations with this very approach.

Over the last few decades, the role of the CFO has undergone a profound shift. The historical tasks of the finance function such as books and records, financial reporting, and statutory compliance continue to be important but there is a next step to be explored. During this we get together with Genevieve MacDonald of Wunderman Thompson to discuss the evolution of the finance teams, the shift in responsibilities and processes that have led to positive impact in the way the finance function operations and collaborates with other business units. Join this session to gain insights into: Where to start from in moving away from the traditional role of the CFO The impact of this journey The transparency we create as finance teams and the value in clarity for the larger organisation

Sue Rosen · Director, Sue Rosen Executive Coaching Are you a CFO ready to take your leadership to the next level? Are you a finance leader looking to step up into the next role? Are you frustrated by your apparent inability to move up into a higher leadership role? Leaders are under huge pressure to deliver results, implement new technologies, update processes, mentor their teams, as well as juggling their family commitments and managing their own health and wellbeing. As well as this leaving us feeling overwhelmed there can be a huge amount of stress from dealing with high stakes situations. This combination of stress and being overwhelmed can take its toll, as we get dragged down into the weeds when we actually need a birds eye view. And as we rise up the ladder it is also very easy to feel isolated, and without the sounding board we need. And being isolated, stressed and overwhelmed has huge consequences for our ability to influence and have impact. I am passionate about helping my clients to create a strategic pause in their work life: to be the sounding board, hold up a mirror so that they can see their blindspots, challenge them to pivot when old beliefs and behaviours are not effective and hold them accountable for their progress. I help them to get clarity around their values, purpose and goals so that they can be authentic, effective and fulfilled as leaders. I bring mindfulness and compassion to my coaching conversations but never shy away from challenging my clients to move beyond their comfort zone. I have been a CFO so I speak your language and have a deep understanding of the corporate context. I am particularly passionate about inspiring courage and compassion so that we bring greater diversity and inclusion to our workplaces.
