- Operating Models for the Data-Driven Organization(Plenary) When it comes to AI initiatives, everyone talks about building a so-called Center of Excellence. But what does that mean? Ultimately, the reality of operating models is much more complex - this session dives into the details of different types of operating models and which work best for what situation.
- Adventures in Astronomical Data Pipelines(Plenary) One favourite hobby for almost everyone is star gazing using whatever telescope we can lay our hands on. The skies provide us with the curiosity to explore the unknown and astronomy in this era is feeding our deepest imaginations. There has been an astronomical shift in this field as it has transformed from being particularly hypothesis-driven to being data-driven to being data-intensive. Today, astronomy finds itself in the mesh of humongous amounts of data, which has only grown in terms of volumes, rates, and complexity. This is where Big Data Analytics comes into the picture. Join us in this session as Simon O’Toole shares his incredibly exciting journey of working with Big Data and the challenges that lies ahead. He will also share some key details on The Square Kilometre Array which is designed with an ambitious goal and a daunting task of moving sheer volume of data and generating data streams far beyond the total Internet traffic worldwide . What are the challenge of Big Data Analytics for astronomy? Software Engineering, Data movement, Storage are just some of the few. “Citizen Science” and what this means for astronomy enthusiasts and the conversion of raw data into consumable knowledge.
- A Business-first Approach to Building Data Governance Programs(Plenary) Traditional data governance initiatives fail by focusing too heavily on policies, compliance, and enforcement, which quickly lose business interest and support. This leaves data management and governance leaders having to continually make the case for data governance to secure business adoption. In this presentation, we will share a lean, business-first data governance approach that connects key initiatives to governance capabilities and quickly delivers business value for the long-term. He will give examples of organisations worldwide who have successfully implemented a data governance program by engaging with key stakeholders using innovative techniques such as gamification and data catalogue scavenger hunts.

- Rethinking Data Security in the era of Digitalisation(Plenary) From the increasing severity of cyberattacks, to keeping pace with rapidly shifting consumer needs, to the need to support remote workers, today's realities are increasing pressure on CDOs (whether Chief Data Officers or Chief Digital Officers). As digital and analytics capabilities become more critical to competitiveness, organisations need to rethink their data management strategies to gain the most value out of their data, while ensuring it remains secure against cyberattacks. Data resilience is a key enabler for CDOs looking to drive a data-driven culture – if data is secure, has integrity, and can be trusted, then the possibilities for innovation are endless. Achieving this requires thinking beyond infrastructure security and ensuring security at the point of data. In this session, we will unpack the cyber security risks that are influencing data management strategies. We will explore how data resiliency, data observability, and data recovery enables organisations to be compliant with data regulations, reduce cyber exposure, and strengthen their competitive edge.

This knowledge creates wisdom that bears the fruits of more data and will enable us to optimise the in-focus business value chains.
