Overview
A good transformation program will not succeed without good data. It is incumbent on chief digital officers to convince the executive and the board to invest in improving data quality. If your data is not up to scratch, your employees and customers will have bad experiences when they interact with your applications and services. Bad data will impact your organisation’s ability to compete in the marketplace and drive your customers away.
Join CDO Sit-Down as we explore:
- Why ensuring data is of the highest quality and employing good data management practices helps build trust with customers, better manage risk, and improve the services you provide to customers.
- A business-first data governance approach that connects key initiatives and governance capabilities and delivers long-term business value.
- Why organisations need to rethink the structure of their data teams, their roles and responsibilities and skillsets that are required.
- Assessing what a fit for purpose data strategy looks like and designing the roadmap measurement points that are needed to achieve business objectives.
What we will cover
- Creating a mature data capability Uplifting data maturity to provide a better customer experience.
- Building good data governance Connecting key initiatives and governance capabilities to deliver business value.
- Building trust and confidence in your data Developing a culture across where data specialists trust data they are using to create new products.
- Selling to the board Making sure the executive and board members understand how bad data impacts the business.

- Benchmark Your Third-party Sensitive Content Communications Maturity Level(CDO Sit-Down) Digital transformation is accelerating sharing and transfer of sensitive content to third parties across all industry sectors. Nearly all of this data is regulated and protected by governmental and industry standards. In addition to a cyber-threat landscape that is growing in complexity and maliciousness, maturity of governance and security tracking and controls directly translates into risk. This presentation explores key findings from a new cross-industry global survey focused on third-party sensitive content communications and spells out key takeaways that will help attendees improve their risk posture as it relates to compliance and security.
- Australian tech leaders discuss their plans for 2023(CDO Sit-Down) The past three years have been tough for technology leaders. Join Sit-Down’s Director of Research & Production, Byron Connolly, as he chats to three technology, data, and cyber leaders about their technology objectives for 2023. Panelists will discuss: - The technology and business lessons they have learned over the past few years and how they will apply those learnings in 2023. - The technology and digital projects their teams will be working on this year and what is driving these initiatives. - Their plans to deal with important issues such as the ongoing technology skills shortage, cost pressures across their organisations and increasing cyber threats.

- The New Value Exchange: Privacy & Innovation in a Global Digital Economy(CDO Sit-Down) Today, data generates more economic value than the transnational flow of goods and services, presenting an untapped commercial opportunity for brands. Yet, harnessing the consumer-data opportunity requires prioritising privacy to protect profits and create competitive advantage. Amid heightening market volatility, a privacy-first commercial strategy provides a pathway to sustainable growth. In this webinar, Tealium’s Nick Dennis (RVP, Solution Consulting, APJ) and Anna Koleth (Head of Product & Content Marketing, APJ) highlight the trends and developments in the Asia-Pacific and Japan data privacy landscape. Gain insight into the economic benefits created by recent regulatory developments, and how prioritising privacy can scale growth in a Web 3.0 era. - Why data quality is critical in building personalised consumer experiences(CDO Sit-Down) The shopping habits of Australian consumers have changed dramatically in recent years with many consumers choosing to use digital channels to transact. For interest free shopping and credit provider, Latitude Financial Services, this presents an opportunity to make the best use of data to build personalised merchant and consumer experiences. Join Sit-Down’s Director of Research & Production, Byron Connolly as he chats to Fahad Najeeb, Acting GM, Data and Analytics at Latitude Financial Services about how the organisation is using data and attract and retain customers, while improving the services offered to 2.7 million customers across Australia and New Zealand. They will discuss: - How data is being used to improve the services provided to Latitude’s large customer base and provide a more personalised experience to people consuming these services. - Industry practices and approaches to ensure data is of the highest quality and free of impediments. - How data is analysed and then used to create new products and services and how the team measure the success (or failure) of these data initiatives. - How they strike a balance between using data to create new products at speed while protecting customer privacy.
- Lunch break, Networking & Exclusive Executive Roundtable Luncheon: Why Harmonising data is key to meeting your transformation objectives(CDO Sit-Down)
- How data helps DPV Health make better healthcare decisions(CDO Sit-Down) DPV Health, like many other healthcare organisations, has ramped up its digital transformation activities since the pandemic hit in 2020. For DPV, a key part of that program was the creation of a specialist data team that uses high-level analytics to provide clinicians and managers with real-time reporting capabilities. This enables these staff to view how they are tracking against their productivity targets. Join Sit-Down’s Director of Research and Production, Byron Connolly, and DPV Health’s Chief Information Office, Noel Toal, as they discuss how data analytics is helping the healthcare organisation make more informed decisions. They will discuss: How a machine learning predictive analytics model helps clinicians and managers identify the best appointment times for patients to improve attendance rates. How data analytics has also helped reduce patient wait times despite an increase in referral demand. How ML technology will be applied across other areas of DPV Health in the future. For instance, how this data is helping the organisation plan its infrastructure spending over the next 15 years. How these insights will result in significant cost savings and ensure that services will not be under-utilised in the coming years.
- Don't fight for budget, fight the right battle for data value; speaking the board's language(CDO Sit-Down) CDOs face daily challenges across three discrete, yet interrelated dimensions–business, technology and people and lack of adequate budgets don't make the job any easier. During this session we get together with Sandeep Shankar to take a look at an effective way to see your role as a data leader and an understanding of what is the value perceived by the stakeholders within the business
- How good data gives QBE staff a voice(CDO Sit-Down) In the new hybrid working world, investing in people is more important than ever. Keeping staff engaged and retained as they move between the office and remote locations during their working week is crucial if organisations are to foster positive and inclusive cultures. Having good data at your disposal can certainly help with understanding employee needs to inform the employee experience and ensure opportunities are not missed along the way. Big annual employee engagement surveys have historically been designed for executives to inform the strategic decisions for the year and to validate how an organisation is tracking against priorities. But opportunities are missed when we do not provide leaders and staff with the insights they need to improve their experiences and deliver their best work. This presentation will present the QBE’s journey of continuous listening. Kanella Salapatas, Group Head of People Data and Analytics at QBE is the owner of the organisation’s ‘Voice’ program along with the People Data Analytics strategy. Join this session to hear about: What a continuous listening program looks like and what benefits can it provide an organisation vs. an annual survey What benefits can be obtained from listening to employees and how this connects to strategy How to create the right focus and equip leaders and Execs to generate meaningful outcomes and actions How QBE drove insights and actions from listening to employees
- Your data challenges for 2023(CDO Sit-Down) Many enterprises are creating data-driven business models where key decisions are based on integrated data combined from multiple sources rather than just the intuition of their knowledge workers. Other organisations, at the very least, are trying their best to organise and make some sense of data that often sits in silos. What is true is that the way enterprises collect, analyse and leverage data to build products and services for customers will determine their level of competitiveness in an inflated global economy that is expected to be in recession soon. During this panel, data leaders will discuss their data challenges for 2023.
- End of day and closing remarks by Sit-Down(CDO Sit-Down)
- Networking drinks(CDO Sit-Down)
