Overview

As government services, operations, and data become increasingly distributed, traditional infrastructure models built around a central data centre or cloud environment may no longer meet every operational need. Agencies must support faster decision making across regional offices, remote environments, service locations, sensors, and other points where data is generated, often under strict security, sovereignty, and connectivity requirements.

Edge computing offers agencies the ability to process data and run critical workloads closer to where they are created and consumed. By combining local processing with centralised visibility and control, agencies can reduce latency, maintain operations during network disruption, limit the movement of sensitive data, and support emerging capabilities such as real time analytics and AI inferencing.
