Michelle Martin is a senior technology executive with extensive experience leading technology strategy, transformation and operations across major financial services and infrastructure organisations. Her career spans senior CIO and technology leadership positions at Transurban and Commonwealth Bank, preceded by almost two decades with J.P. Morgan across London, New York and Hong Kong.

At Transurban, Michelle served as Chief Information Officer and previously as General Manager, Customer Platforms, leading technology across customer-facing platforms and enterprise services. At Commonwealth Bank, she held CIO roles spanning CommSec, Private Bank and Business Bank. Her experience combines strategic technology leadership with a strong understanding of business operations, customer platforms, technology investment and large-scale organisational change.

Earlier at J.P. Morgan, Michelle held a succession of Managing Director and technology leadership roles across trade finance, financing and market products, human resources technology and diversity and campus recruitment. Her experience also includes technology vendor management, business management, operations process re-engineering and capital markets product management, giving her an unusually broad perspective across technology, business and operations.

Previous Roles

At Transurban, Michelle served as Chief Information Officer from May 2025 to April 2026, following her role as General Manager, Customer Platforms and General Manager, Enterprise Services. Her leadership spanned customer technology, enterprise technology and broader technology operations within a major infrastructure organisation.

At Commonwealth Bank, Michelle was General Manager and CIO for CommSec and Business Bank, having previously led technology for CommSec and Private Bank. These roles gave her extensive exposure to customer-facing financial technology, business-critical platforms and technology leadership within one of Australia's largest financial institutions.

Michelle spent 18 years with J.P. Morgan, progressing through technology, business management, product and people leadership roles across multiple global locations. As CTO for Trade Finance and CTO for Financing and Market Products, she led global technology teams supporting complex capital markets businesses, including securities lending, liquidity, financing and trade finance.

Her earlier J.P. Morgan roles included APAC Head of Technology for Human Resources, APAC Head of Diversity and Campus Recruitment, Technology Vendor Management and Operations Business Process Re-engineering. This breadth gave Michelle experience spanning technology delivery, commercial management, operational efficiency, workforce strategy and organisational capability.
